Girl Scout Sunday and Girl Scout Sabbath
Girl Scout Week in 2014 will take place March 9-15, with Girl Scout Sunday on March 9 and Girl Scout Sabbath on March 15. Congregations, girls, and volunteers may use the following materials to help their religious organizations recognize girl members and adult volunteers involved in Girl Scouting during Girl Scout Week:
- A bulletin insert PDF to be copied on colored paper and distributed in the bulletin (GS Sunday or GS Sabbath)
- A slide to be shown during observances (GS Sunday or GS Sabbath)
- A list of ideas of ways congregations could recognize Girl Scouts during services, including showing one of our videos
- A script of a speech to deliver during services (GS Sunday or GS Sabbath)
- A paragraph to be inserted into the bulletin if you prefer not to run copies of the half-page insert (GS Sunday or GS Sabbath)
Now more than ever, we thank you for helping us address the challenges facing today’s girls. Working together, we can help girls build strong moral values and the courage, confidence, and character to make our world a better place. Girls from every faith are welcome in Girl Scouting, and since our founding more than 100 years ago, Girl Scouts have enjoyed the support of faith-based organizations that partner with us to enrich the spiritual lives of girl members. We thank you for joining the millions of girls and adult volunteers throughout the world who celebrated the strong moral values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law, and the shared values of the faith-based community. Girl Scout Cookie Program Walkabout Week
Coinciding with Girl Scout Week, March 9-15, 2014 will also be our Cookie Walkabout Week for girls participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. This week helps to boost girls’ sales while returning to the tradition of door-to-door cookies-in-hand neighborhood sales. Girls decorate their wagon and send in photos displaying their creativity, which are posted on our Product Program Facebook page. Check the Walkabout Week flier for details!
Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Week
Also coinciding with Girl Scout Week, please visit one of the Columbus Food League restaurants for Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Week. Chefs at these restaurants have created some spectacular desserts from Girl Scout cookies, and they’ll be available for you to order March 9-15. (Call ahead first; these delectable desserts sell out quickly!) Some of the restaurants are also providing booth opportunities to Girl Scouts during the week, so once you’ve been inspired, you can buy some boxes to try your hand at creating a dessert at home.
The participating restaurants are:
