VERG Chapter 4: Safety-Wise

Prerequisites: Girl Scouting 101, Safety Essentials, and Getting Started

This course teaches the three keys of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and demonstrates how to use resources to support and deliver the Girl Scout Program.

Troop Camp Certification (#2003) RegisteronCORA2

Cost: $8 for All In One Day Course
$25/person for All In One Overnight with Girls

Time: 11 hours

Prerequisites: Must be a currently registered Girl Scout member who has successfully completed the application and background check processes and Safety Essentials (#3100).

This course must be completed by at least one adult (not necessarily the troop leader) before a troop can go camping. It is the their responsibility to attend pre-camp preparatory meetings with the girls. The adult helps girls prepare for the camping experience and then accompanies them on the camping trip.

Courses of Study:
Includes three parts for 11 credit hours. All courses require the completion of the Pre-Course Home Study to attend.

  • Pre-Course Home Study (2 credit hours): Sent when you register for Planning and Prep session. Must be completed prior to attending Planning and Prep or Outdoor Skills.
  • Planning and Prep Course (3 credit hours): Shows you how to facilitate the girls planning their camping trip. This program is offered several ways:
    • In split sessions (2 separate days)
    • As an all-in-one day course
    • As an all-in-one overnight course with girls*
  • Outdoor Skills Course (6 credit hours): Introduces all the outdoor skill sets you will need for your girls to go camping and ways to teach your girls.

*NOTE: The all-in-one overnight with girls format is a learning experience for adults and girls to learn the skills necessary for camping. It is not intended to be a program.

Girl Scout First Aider Series RegisteronCORA2

Become a troop first aider by successfully completing a Girl Scout approved first aid and CPR course including specific instructions for child CPR.

CAUTION: Any first aid/CPR training that is available entirely online does not satisfy Girl Scouts’ requirements. Such courses do not offer enough opportunities for practice or feedback.

Product Program Safety Essentials
Required for all troop and service unit product program volunteers

Cost: Free
Time: Approx. 30 minutes
