Columbus, Ohio — The countdown is on! This Saturday, Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland kicks off the 2025 Cookie Program, launching a season of sweetness and success. More than just a beloved tradition, this program is the world’s largest entrepreneurial initiative for girls.
“The Girl Scout Cookie Program is so much more than cookies—it’s a launchpad for the next generation of trailblazing women entrepreneurs and leaders,” said Tammy Wharton, president and CEO, GSOH. “Every cookie sold helps girls gain the skills, confidence, and courage to dream big and achieve even bigger, paving the way for a future where they thrive and inspire others.”
With less than 2% of overall philanthropic funding going toward organizations focused on girls and women, programs like the Girl Scout Cookie Program can level the playing field, providing opportunities for girls to realize their potential. The impact is immense, with 100 percent of the net revenue from Girl Scout Cookie sales staying within the community to support year-round troop projects and activities.
At the same time, local cookie enthusiasts can indulge their sweet tooth while championing the cause by purchasing beloved cookie varieties such as Thin Mints®, Samoas®, Tagalongs®, Do-si-dos®, Adventurefuls®, and more. Fans of the S’mores® cookie should act fast, as this year marks the final opportunity to enjoy this iconic flavor.
Last year, 2,044,971 packages of Girl Scout Cookies were purchased in the 30-county GSOH service area across central and southern Ohio. Thin Mints continue to be the most popular flavor, year after year.
How to Get Your Cookies
Girl Scout Cookies can be purchased from a registered Girl Scout for $6 per package.
Shaping Tomorrow's Business Leaders
The Girl Scout Cookie Program fosters leadership in girls by engaging them in goal-setting, decision-making, and teamwork during the sales process. Through this hands-on experience, girls develop communication skills, business ethics, and financial literacy, building confidence and leadership capabilities.
Girl Scouts in grades K–12 can start their journey to fun, friendship, and new experiences by joining the world's largest entrepreneurial organization for girls at any point in the year. Girls can join, and adults can become volunteers at www.girlscouts.org/join.
