STEM in Our Council

Did you know – Girl Scouts has been doing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for over 113 years! One of the very first badges Girl Scouts could earn was an electrical skills badge.
STEM is one of our four programming pillars because we know how important STEM skills are to a girls’ confidence and potentially her future career. We know girls form their STEM identity and self-confidence by the third grade, so it is vital we give them the opportunities and exposure to STEM experiences early on.
We provide these experiences through our new AEP Foundation STEM Leadership Center, our STEM Programming and STEM Day Camps. Learn more about these opportunities below.
In October 2024, we cut the ribbon on our AEP Foundation STEM Leadership Center on the Battelle Science and Innovation Campus at our own Camp Ken-Jockety, just fifteen minutes west of downtown Columbus.
Our Co-Chairs and major donors joined us on the Battelle Science and Innovation Campus at Camp Ken-Jockety to celebrate the opening of our new innovative building that will help girls foster their STEM skills!
